Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find a dealer that is conviently located to me?

Click here to use the Locate a Dealer tool found at the top of this page.

Or you can call the Customer Care Centre at 1-800-GM-DRIVE (1-800-463-7483) to be directed to your nearest dealer.

Can my dealership provide warranty service for a GM brand other than the ones they currently sell and service?

Yes. However, for non-emergency warranty repairs (the vehicle is drivable and does not pose a driving hazard), it is recommended that customers take their vehicle to a dealership that currently sells and services brand. If the customers believe that the issue they are facing creates an emergency, they can take their vehicle to any GM dealership for warranty repairs. In these cases, the GM dealership must determine if they have the training and tools necessary to perform a warranty repair on another make vehicle.

What happens to my Pontiac, Saturn or Hummer vehicle warranty?

Your vehicle warranty coverage is remains unchanged. Customers can continue to have their vehicles serviced at Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, or Cadillac dealerships.

GM Canada continues to stand behind our Pontiac, Saturn and Hummer customers. Customers should be assured that their warranty coverage, Roadside Assistance and OnStar® services will remain unchanged.

Is my dealer still able to service my Pontiac, Saturn or Hummer?

GM works closely with our dealers to ensure that parts and services of discontinued brand vehicles remain available on a long-term basis.

Where can Pontiac, Saturn and Hummer customers get their vehicles serviced?

Customer service is paramount. Customers can have their vehicles serviced at any Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac dealership.

Call the Customer Care Centre at 1-800-GM-DRIVE (1-800-463-7483), to be directed to your nearest dealer.

Is there any impact to the Saturn Service Plan that I purchased?

No. Your Saturn Service Plan (SSP) coverage will be honoured in accordance with the terms of the agreement.

How do GM dealerships handle the service appointments for current Pontiac, Saturn and Hummer customers?

GMCL does not have record of outstanding appointments that have been scheduled through dealerships that have been closed. Customers should contact a new dealer to book a service appointment that has not yet been performed.

Is there any impact to my warranty or GM services such as OnStar®, XM Radio or Roadside Assistance?

Your GM Warranty is sound: GM continues to offer and honour industry-leading warranty coverage on past and future purchases for our full vehicle line-up. Service will continue to be performed through authorized GM dealers, with genuine GM parts. The same holds true for customer purchased General Motors Protection Plan (GMPP) extended warranties. We also want to reassure you that there are no changes to the GM services, like Roadside Assistance, OnStar® and XM Radio.

Who will honour Lube Oil Filter "LOF" (or other services) purchased from a dealer who is now closed?

Dealers are independent businesses. If the service offers were part of a package purchased or received from a dealer that is now closed those offers can no longer be redeemed. Any "no charge" GM corporate maintenance programs that are administered by GM can be honoured at any Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac dealer.

Are dealers still able to get service parts to repair vehicles?

Replacement parts continue to be available to service and maintain GM branded vehicles. Customers can be assured that GM and our dealers are committed to meeting the service needs of our customers now and well into the future.

Can I buy parts online?

No. GM parts can only be purchased through your authorized local GM Dealer.

Where can I find older vehicle parts?

Visit your nearest dealership's parts department, where they can assist you in finding the right parts for your vehicle. Find a dealer near you by using our Dealer Locator tool found on this page.

My dealer closed. Can I go to a different divisional dealer that is right around the corner for warranty service?

If the customer believes that the issue they are facing creates an emergency, they can take their vehicle to any GM dealership for warranty repairs. In these cases, the Dealership must determine if they have the training and tools necessary to perform a warranty repair on another make vehicle.

What is GM doing to hold on to customers whose dealer has closed?

As GM Dealers and Retailers ceased operations, customers should have been notified of dealership closures and directed to another convenient dealer. All warranty coverage, Roadside Assistance and OnStar services remain unchanged on all GM branded vehicles.

To see all Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac dealership locations and select one that is most convenient for you, click on the dealer locator link on this page or call our Customer Care Centre at 1-800-GM-DRIVE (1-800-463-7483).

Who do I contact if I have a concern with my vehicle?

Your satisfaction is important to your dealer and to GM. Any concerns with the sales transaction or operation of your vehicle should be resolved by your dealer's sales or service department. If your dealership has closed, you can locate a dealer near you by using the tools on this page or by contacting the Customer Care Centre at 1-800-GM-DRIVE (1-800-463-7483).

What happened to Saab in Canada?

GM announced February 23rd, 2010 that the agreement to sell Saab was finalized by Spyker Cars and Saab Automobile AB. As part of the agreement, during the month of August 2010, Saab began marketing itself in Canada through its division, Saab Cars North America (SCNA). Further information can be found at www.saab.ca.

I'm a current Saab owner. What happens to my existing warranty now that Saab is being marketed through Saab Cars North America and not GM?

Saab vehicle warranty coverage remains unchanged. Saab vehicles continue to be covered by current warranty plans, and customers are able to have their warranty requirements serviced at the new Saab dealerships and Transition Centres.

Where should existing Saab customers go for warranty work?

SCNA dealers and Transition Service Centres perform Saab warranty work. To locate a dealership or Transition Service Centre authorized to perform warranty work on your Saab vehicle, please visit www.saab.ca or call Saab Customer Assistance at 1.877.919.Saab (7222).

Will Saab continue to offer XM Radio, OnStar, and Roadside Assistance in its existing vehicles in Canada?

Former GM Canada (GMCL) Saab customers can continue to purchase XM Subscriptions from XM Canada. Saab customers from the new distributer do not receive a 3-month XM Trial automatically. They must call XM at 877-209-0079 and subscribe.

My vehicle brand has been discontinued and my dealership has closed. What do I do now?

Please be assured that there is still a GM-supported dealer to assist you with your sales and service needs. If you own a Pontiac, Saturn or Hummer vehicle, you can take your vehicle to any Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac dealer for service.

For Saab vehicles, visit the Dealer Locator tool on this page or contact the Customer Care Centre at 1-800-GM-DRIVE (1-800-463-7483) to locate your closest SAAB authorized dealership.

Please use the tools on this page to find the appropriate dealer most convenient to you.
